Citizen Attacks Policeman with Axe in Surkhandarya

A shocking incident unfolded in the Surkhandarya region when a citizen launched an axe attack on an officer of the Internal Affairs Agency.  The press service of the Regional Internal Affairs Department has confirmed the incident.

The alarming event occurred on the 30th of May at 16:00 p.m., in the "Hamkorlik" neighborhood of the Sariosia district in Surkhandarya.  A.I., a previously convicted individual under preventive supervision as a drug addict, went to the residence of neighborhood chairman N. Shoymardonov while intoxicated.  He forcefully entered the chairman's house, disturbing the peace of the household members, and initiated a quarrel regarding personal matters.

Captain G.B. witnessed the unruly citizen fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.

After an extensive search operation, the disorderly individual, A.I., was located at his residence around 19:00 p.m. on the same day.  Captain G.B., accompanied by colleagues, visited the offender's apartment to conduct a preventive interview and formalize the violation committed against the neighborhood chairman.  However, the apartment owner vehemently opposed the captain's presence and attacked him with an axe, causing injury to Captain G.B.'s left elbow.

Subsequently, Captain G.B. was immediately transported to the hospital with the assistance of colleagues and the apartment owners present at the scene.  Medical examinations revealed an open fracture of the bones in the lower part of Captain G.B.'s left elbow, along with a laceration of blood vessels, necessitating appropriate medical procedures.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Prosecutor's Office of Sariosia District in connection with this incident.  The suspect has been apprehended in accordance with legal procedures.
