Gas theft was uncovered in Surkhandarya. 2.1 billion soums were stolen

Authorities in the Surkhandarya region have uncovered a methane "gas station" illegally connected to the network, resulting in the theft of 2.1 billion soums worth of natural gas.

The Prosecutor General’s Office reported the incident in the Jarkurgan district, where the head of the private enterprise "Yu.A.D.," identified as T.D., bypassed the legal network to fuel the company’s vehicles.

A criminal case has been opened against T.D. under Part 4, Article 169 ("Theft"), Clause “a” of Uzbekistan's Criminal Code. The suspect has been detained and is awaiting legal proceedings.

Authorities have reminded businesses to comply with laws governing energy resource usage. A statement emphasized the importance of using energy resources legally and responsibly.

This incident follows a similar case in the Syrdarya region, where a group was caught stealing 5 billion 25 million soums worth of natural gas. Investigations into both cases are ongoing, highlighting the government’s intensified efforts to combat energy resource theft.
