A resident of Toyloq district in the Samarkand region has been fined more than 71 million sums for illegally cutting down a mulberry tree. This was reported by the Regional Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.

According to the department, state inspectors found that U.Z., a local resident, had cut down a healthy mulberry tree growing in the "Khojayuz" neighborhood without obtaining the necessary permits.

In accordance with Article 79 of the Administrative Responsibility Code (Illegal cutting, felling, damaging, destroying, or transplanting trees, bushes, and other plants), the citizen was fined 71 million 250 thousand sums for the damage caused to nature.

The report emphasizes the current moratorium on cutting trees and shrubs not part of the state forest fund, which makes felling trees without the required permits strictly prohibited.

Earlier, it was reported that another individual in the Tashkent region caused 260 million sums in damage to nature by illegally cutting down trees. The offender was caught with material evidence while loading pieces of the felled trees onto an Isuzu truck. The case documents have been submitted to the Tashkent regional prosecutor's office for legal review.
