Man in Samarkand attempts to rob bank claiming to have a bomb (video)

A man who entered one of the banks in Samarkand and demanded money while claiming to have an explosive device in his possession has been detained. The information was reported by the Security Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the report, at around 5:00 p.m. on July 13 this year, the Samarkand Regional Security Service’s control center received information about a dangerous situation at one of the banks located on Mirzo Ulugbek Street.
Officers from the rapid response team who arrived at the scene found a person inside the bank wearing winter clothing, with his face covered by a mask and carrying a black bag. The individual had broken windows inside the bank and was demanding money while claiming to be carrying an explosive device.
Following this, additional rapid response teams, internal affairs officers, and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene. Security service officers held negotiations with the suspect.
According to the authorities, after negotiations, the individual voluntarily surrendered and was handed over to law enforcement officers. No bank employees or customers were injured during the incident.
Preliminary information suggests that the suspect intended to obtain money through an easy way.
A criminal case has been initiated over the incident under Part 4 of Article 164 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (robbery).
