5724The Tashkent city administration has called for patience from citizens as efforts to repair potholes on city roads continue. This comes after reports emerged that employees from a local preschool educational institution had taken the initiative to repair potholes on their own. The administration responded, asking the public to be more patient as planned repairs are underway.
Currently, the Tashkent city administration, along with district administrations, is carrying out large-scale and scheduled work to improve road surfaces. These repairs include milling, cleaning, laying asphalt, and compacting the surface with specialized equipment. All work is being conducted in line with established technological standards and utilizing high-quality materials. The State Road Safety Administration is also involved to ensure safety during these operations.
The administration emphasized that filling potholes with a cold mixture and compacting them with improvised tools is not considered a complete repair. Such temporary fixes may not only fail to address the issue but could also worsen the situation, potentially increasing the risks for both traffic and those carrying out the repairs.
“We urge those attempting to repair the roads to refrain from doing so without authorization and to be patient,” the administration said in a statement. “Necessary repairs are being carried out according to an approved schedule and technical standards. We appreciate the active civic engagement of our residents and encourage them to use this energy more effectively—by submitting applications to the Public Control Portal, documenting improper repairs with photos, and monitoring progress. Your efforts will help us improve the city!”
Work on repairing and reconstructing Tashkent’s street and road network began on March 7. A targeted repair program has been developed, which outlines streets that will undergo current and capital repairs in 2025. As part of this initiative, more than 65,000 m² of road surface will be repaired, using specialized materials and technologies that ensure long-term durability, starting from March 7.
