Property and land taxes for greenhouses in Tashkent and surrounding areas to increase tenfold

Property and land taxes for greenhouses located in Tashkent and surrounding areas will be increased tenfold. This is stipulated in the draft law “On amendments and additions to the Tax Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at improving the environmental situation in certain regions of the country”, which was submitted for public discussion on July 16.

According to the draft, the tax rate for land plots occupied by greenhouses located in Tashkent city and the Yukorichirchik, Qibray, Yangiyul, Zangiota, and Tashkent districts of Tashkent region will be set at ten times the rate established for agricultural land. Tax benefits will not apply to such land plots.

These provisions will not apply to land plots occupied by greenhouses where heating systems (boiler houses) have been dismantled, as well as greenhouses using electric heating systems. Information on such facilities will be provided by the authorized body responsible for environmental protection.

The amendments are being introduced to reduce the negative environmental impact of greenhouse farming on the ecological situation in Tashkent city and Tashkent region, as well as to encourage the use of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient technologies for greenhouse heating.

Earlier, it was reported that starting from October 1 of this year, the establishment of new greenhouses in Tashkent city and adjacent areas would be restricted. It was also announced that enterprises causing environmental damage in Tashkent city would be relocated to vacant land plots in Tashkent region.
