Dust storms expected in Surkhandarya and Tashkent today

Strong winds and localized dust storms are expected in parts of Uzbekistan today, July 22, including in the capital, Tashkent, according to the national weather agency Uzhydromet.

The agency said that wind speeds in some areas of Surkhandarya Region and mountainous districts are expected to increase to 13–18 meters per second during the day, with dust storms possible in affected areas.

In Tashkent, wind speeds are forecast to reach 10–12 meters per second, with localized dust storms also possible.

Earlier, Uzhydromet warned that rainfall expected between July 21 and 24 could trigger mudflows and flash floods in the country's foothill and mountainous regions.
