Earlier, it was reported that a 7-year-old girl was raped by a 38-year-old relative in the Yangikurgan district of Namangan region. A criminal case has been opened in this case. This was reported by Children's Ombudsman Surayyo Rahmonova to QALAMPIR.UZ

It is stated that on October 15, the Investigation Unit under the Yangikurgan district Department of Internal Affairs initiated a criminal case under part 4 of Article 118 (Indecent assault) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and a preliminary investigation is currently underway.

’’The Children's Ombudsman, within the framework of her powers established by law, is monitoring the implementation of this criminal case to ensure the interests of the child,’’ Surayyo Rahmonova said.

The crime occurred on October 14 of this year. The suspect went to a wedding at his uncle's house and deceived and violated his 7-year-old granddaughter, and then hid from the scene. The man was found 2 days later and was taken into custody as a precautionary measure yesterday, October 16, by a ruling of the Yangikurgan district criminal court. The suspect in this crime was previously convicted of similar crimes twice and sentenced to certain terms of imprisonment.

It is worth noting that this summer, a man was found guilty of raping his daughter in one of the districts of the Tashkent region. On July 24, according to a court decision, the man was found guilty of committing a serious crime against his child. The court sentenced him to 12 years in prison under Part 3, Subparagraphs ’’a’’, ’’b’’, and ’’e’’ of Article 118 (Indecent assault) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
