Namangan authorities have apprehended individuals involved in the illegal sale of pyrotechnics. This was reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office.

During an operational raid aimed at curbing the circulation of banned pyrotechnic products, citizens Yo.K. and U.R. were caught in possession of illicit goods. The suspects were intercepted while transporting 138 pyrotechnic items of six different types, valued at 40.1 million soums. The items were being delivered to citizen M.Kh. in a Gentra car.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 2501 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which addresses the illegal handling of pyrotechnics. Investigative procedures are currently underway.

For context, the import, production, transportation, storage, sale, and use of pyrotechnics were temporarily prohibited across Uzbekistan through a government decree issued at the end of 2009. Offenders face fines ranging from 1.7 million to 6.8 million soums, along with the confiscation of illegal items.

Additionally, violations related to the advertisement of pyrotechnic products, weapons, and military equipment carry penalties of up to 50 times the minimum wage (17 million soums).

This incident follows a similar case in Tashkent, where an individual was detained for selling pyrotechnics at the Chorsu “Eski Juva” farmer's market in the Shaykhontohur district.
