1615In 2025, an additional 185 billion soums will be allocated to the Medical Insurance Fund to provide surgeries for people in need. This was announced today, December 13, at a videoconference meeting on the work done in the field of social protection and priority tasks for 2025, chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
It was reported that 460,000 people from poor families require medical care, and 6,000 families need improvements in their housing conditions. Funds from the “Social Notebooks” will be dedicated to improving the living conditions of low-income families, providing medical and educational services, and increasing their income. To ensure fairness, these funds will now be distributed based on the number of poor people in each district.
Another issue addressed was the relocation of needy residents. Currently, 25,000 people live in 400 multi-story social houses, often far from their close relatives and usual environments. It was decided to discontinue the practice of housing these individuals in large social housing complexes. Instead, they will be allowed to rent homes closer to their neighborhoods, with rental costs covered by the government.
It was also announced that 30% of the funds from social ledgers can be utilized by district mayors to improve housing, roads, water, and electricity infrastructure in areas with "Inson" centers.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty. The Minister of Preschool and School Education, Hilola Umarova, was tasked with establishing one family kindergarten in 1,000 high-poverty neighborhoods by 2025. From the new year, 15% of places in these family kindergartens will be allocated to children from poor families, with their kindergarten fees partially covered.
In addition, by March 1, clubs will be opened to educate 118,000 young people from poor families, with up to 80% of the club costs covered by the state budget. The government aims to prepare children from low-income families for university admission, with 3,500 young people set to receive university grants in 2025. University rectors will oversee the education of 4,000 students from such families, under the coordination of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations, Kungratbay Sharipov.
Earlier in the meeting, Deputy Prosecutor General Isroil Adhamov was instructed to enforce stricter measures against those failing to create favorable conditions for people with disabilities. Relevant instructions were also given to Mansurbek Olloyorov, Director of the Social Protection Agency, to manage housing and welfare initiatives effectively.
