President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Islamic civilization center to inspect the final finishing and furnishing works today, August 29, the presidential press service reported.

This grand and unique project was launched in accordance with the President’s resolution dated June 23, 2017, and its foundation stone was laid on the day of Eid al-Fitr in 2018. At present, construction has entered the final stage. The majestic complex is being built in the style of ancient architectural monuments. The harmonious combination of the national dome, portals, and ornamental patterns lends it a distinctive beauty. The complex features four portals, each 34 meters high, with a central dome rising to 65 meters.

The main part of the Center features the construction of the Qur’an hall. Here, the spiritual treasure of the Muslim world, the ancient Uthman Mushaf, will be placed. In addition, copies of the Holy Qur’an written during the eras of the Samanids, Qarakhanids, Khwarazmshahs, Uzbek Khan, the Timurids, and other historical dynasties, along with their translations into Old Uzbek, will be displayed. Rare handwritten Qur’ans from around the world will also be showcased.

The President reviewed the final finishing works in this hall and gave his recommendations to the officials. A 460-seat conference hall has also been built within the center. It is equipped with the latest technology and designed to host various international meetings and conferences.

“Uzbekistan has a great history. The scientific and cultural heritage created by our great ancestors has left an indelible mark in human history. I am confident that this center will play an invaluable role in acquainting the international community with them,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The sections such as “pre-Islamic civilizations,” “the First Renaissance,” “the Second Renaissance,” “Uzbekistan in the 20th century,” and “New Uzbekistan – new Renaissance” are being established within the complex. The history of these periods is presented through various artifacts, manuscripts, photographs, and multimedia tools. Information is provided about the multifaceted activities of scholars and thinkers such as Khwarizmi, Fergani, Farabi, Beruni, Ibn Sina, Burhaniddin Margiloniy, Mahmud Zamakhshari, Mirzo Ulugbek, Alisher Navoi, Babur Mirzo, and Ali Kushchi. The contributions of prominent Islamic scholars, including Imam Bukhari, Imam Termiziy, Hakim Termiziy, Abu Mansur Moturidiy, Abu Muin Nasafiy, Qaffol Shoshiy, Abdulkhaliq Gijduvaniy, Najmiddin Kubro, Bahauddin Naqshband, and Khoja Ahror Vali, to Islamic enlightenment are thoroughly highlighted.

At present, the complex also highlights the contributions of prominent women such as Bibikhonim, Khonzodabegim, Gavharshodbegim, Gulbadanbegim, Nodirabegim, Uvaysiy, and Anbar Otin, whose activities as patrons of science and enlightenment have left a profound mark on our history.

It was emphasized that the legacy of great ancestors should be thoroughly studied and transformed into a vital force capable of addressing today's pressing challenges. For this purpose, cooperation will be established with the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, as well as the international research and educational centers named after Imam Bukhari, Imam Termiziy, Imam Moturidiy, and others, in order to develop sound scholarly responses to contemporary threats.

The Head of State highly praised the construction works carried out in the center and gave instructions on properly organizing its activities and enriching its content.

“For eight years, great efforts have been devoted here. We have built such a majestic and profoundly meaningful center. Visitors who come here will admire our people’s rich history, the knowledge and wisdom of our ancestors, and gain immense spiritual strength”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev mentioned.

The President also inspected the trade and service facilities established adjacent to the center, which are expected to play an important role in the future development of tourism.

It is worth noting that today, August 29, the representatives of state and public organizations, elders, and intellectuals gathered at the Alley of Martyrs in observance of the Day of Remembrance for the victims of repression on August 31. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the ceremony. The Quran was recited in honor of the country’s patriots, and meals were distributed to the public. Quran recitations were also held near the symbolic grave in the alley. Scholars and intellectuals discussed the study of history, educating the youth, and fostering respect for independence and peace. Following this, the President visited the “New Uzbekistan” park and laid a wreath at the base of the Independence monument. The representatives of the Legislative chamber and Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Presidential administration, the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Tashkent city community also attended the ceremony of laying flowers at the monument. Mirziyoyev also inspected the underground road built on New Uzbekistan street in Tashkent.
