President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has extended his heartfelt condolences to the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, following the tragic fire at a ski resort in Turkey’s Bolu province on January 21. The incident resulted in numerous fatalities and severe injuries. This was reported by the President's press secretary, Sherzod Asadov.

"Expressing deep condolences to the leader and people of fraternal Turkey, the head of our state wished patience and endurance to the family members and relatives of the deceased, and a speedy recovery to the injured," said Asadov.

The ski resort, where the fire erupted during the night of January 21, is situated at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level in the Keroglu mountain range. It is regarded as one of Turkey’s premier vacation destinations. At the time of the fire, the hotel’s occupancy was at 80-90% due to the ongoing student holiday period.

The Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs has reported that 66 people lost their lives, and 51 others sustained injuries in the blaze. Preliminary information indicates that no Uzbek citizens are among the victims, according to the General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Turkey.

One hotel staff member revealed that while a fire escape was available, it was illogically constructed inside the hotel. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, resulting in the arrest of four individuals, including the hotel’s owner.

Earlier reports indicate that the fire began in the restaurant section of the hotel complex. Rescuers promptly evacuated the guests, who were then accommodated in four nearby hotels within the resort area.
