2876No citizens of Uzbekistan were injured in the hotel fire that broke out on January 21 in Turkey's Bolu region, a popular resort area. This was confirmed by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul.
According to the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs, the fire claimed 66 lives and left 51 people injured. Preliminary reports indicate that none of the victims were Uzbek nationals.
The ski resort, situated at an altitude of 2,200 meters on the Keroğlu mountain range, is among Turkey's premier vacation destinations. On the day of the incident, the hotel was operating at 80-90% capacity due to a student holiday period.
One hotel staff member highlighted concerns about safety measures, noting that the fire escape was poorly designed and constructed within the hotel premises, raising questions about its practicality. Authorities have launched an investigation, and four individuals, including the hotel owner, have been arrested in connection with the tragedy.
Earlier reports indicated that the fire originated in the restaurant area of the hotel complex. Rescuers swiftly evacuated guests, who were subsequently accommodated in four nearby hotels within the resort.
