Uzbekistan eyes deeper economic ties with leading American companies

3644On June 9, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a delegation of leading U.S. companies on the eve of the Tashkent International Investment Forum. The meeting was reported by the press service of the President.
The delegation included U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Eric Meyer, Chairwoman of the U.S.-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce Carolyn Lamm, Vice President of the International Development Finance Corporation Brez Bethany, as well as senior representatives from major corporations such as Boeing, FLS, Visa, NASDAQ, Air Products, Franklin Templeton, Morgan Stanley, Coca-Cola, and others.
President Mirziyoyev expressed his satisfaction, noting that the meeting reflects the growing interest of American businesses in expanding their presence and operations in Uzbekistan.
The talks focused on strengthening investment and innovation cooperation. Special attention was given to concrete project opportunities in the extraction and processing of strategically important materials, the use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies, modernization of transport and energy infrastructure, and the development of agriculture, tourism, and other sectors.
The heads of U.S. companies expressed their appreciation for the favorable investment environment created in Uzbekistan and presented specific proposals and plans for future collaboration.
It is also worth recalling that earlier on the same day, President Mirziyoyev received Dilma Rousseff, President of the BRICS New Development Bank, who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the Tashkent International Investment Forum.
