Mirziyoyev meets BRICS Bank chief ahead of Investment Forum

On June 9, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Dilma Rousseff, President of the BRICS New Development Bank, who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the Tashkent International Investment Forum. The meeting was reported by the press service of the President.

The discussion focused on expanding practical cooperation with the multilateral financial institution. It was noted with satisfaction that agreements reached during the BRICS summit in October last year are being steadily implemented.

Notably, the bank’s Board of Governors has given its preliminary approval for Uzbekistan’s membership in the New Development Bank. A joint project portfolio worth \$5 billion has already been outlined.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of swiftly preparing and launching projects in key areas, including the modernization of irrigation systems, development of the mining industry, support for the private sector, and promotion of public-private partnerships in education and infrastructure.

Large-scale regional infrastructure initiatives were also supported during the talks.

It is worth noting that the Tashkent International Investment Forum opens today, June 9. The event is expected to bring together 8,000 delegates, including around 3,000 international guests from approximately 100 countries.

Among the high-level participants are Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Head of the Presidential Administration Adilbek Kasimaliev, Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguli Ataguliyev, as well as the current Chairperson of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Finland’s Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso, and President of the BRICS New Development Bank Dilma Rousseff, among others.
