6760A victim of human trafficking, who was lured to Turkey by her cousin and forced into prostitution, has been safely brought back to Uzbekistan. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul confirmed the news.
On November 10, 2024, a 20-year-old Uzbek citizen, F.H., approached the Consulate General seeking urgent help. She reported that her cousin, A.M., had confined her at The Pera Hotel Marmaris in the Mugla region of Turkey, where she was forced into prostitution. She pleaded for assistance in her release.
With the joint efforts of the Culture, Solidarity, and Cooperation of Uzbekistan Society and the Protection of Uzbek Women's Rights Society, F.H. was freed from the hotel, brought to Istanbul, and placed in a safe environment.
Local law enforcement authorities in Turkey have since apprehended the organized criminal group responsible for this act of human trafficking. An investigation into the case is currently underway.
On November 15, in coordination with the mentioned organizations, F.H. was successfully repatriated to Uzbekistan.
It is worth noting that earlier, a 74-year-old Uzbek tourist in Istanbul, who had fallen victim to theft and lost her documents, was also returned to Uzbekistan with the assistance of relevant authorities.
