The world community should not repeat the mistakes made in the 90's in the last century when making decisions about Afghanistan.  This was mentioned in the address of the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the participants of the international conference "Afghanistan: security and economic development" on 26 July.

"We are sure that the world community today will not repeat the mistakes of the 1990s, the world will be able to avoid them, and it is necessary to achieve this," - said the head of state.

As noted in the address, without peace on the other side of the Amudarya, security and stable development cannot be achieved in Uzbekistan and the entire Central Asian region.

"Afghanistan's isolation in the international arena will inevitably lead to further deterioration of the humanitarian situation, and it is important not to allow this to happen.  We are talking about the fate of millions of people," - Mirziyoyev says.

In addition, the president noted that today's events in various regions of the world are causing the world community focus less on Afghanistan and this is causing concern.

"The world's attention on Afghanistan, which is facing a deep socio-economic and humanitarian crisis in its recent history, is becoming less and less alarming," - Mirziyoyev says.

It should be recalled that on 26 July, the international conference "Afghanistan: security and economic development" is being held in the capital of Tashkent.  The delegation of the interim government of Afghanistan, headed by Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, is also participating in it.
