On June 4, a bus carrying five Uzbek citizens caught fire in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan.
The incident occurred at the 960th kilometer of the "Astana–Karaganda–Almaty" highway, in the Abay district. The fire broke out in the engine compartment of the passenger bus, which was traveling along the "Astana–Shymkent" route.
The fire was extinguished by the bus drivers before emergency services arrived at the scene. Emergency personnel evacuated all passengers safely and transported them to a nearby roadside shelter, where they were provided with necessary assistance.
The bus was carrying a total of 34 passengers, including 9 children. Among them were 5 citizens of Uzbekistan. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
It is worth noting that in a separate incident earlier this year, citizens of Uzbekistan, Russia, and Tajikistan who were stranded in cold weather on the Samara–Shymkent highway in Kazakhstan’s Aktobe region were also successfully evacuated.
