Citizens of Uzbekistan, Russia, and Tajikistan who were stranded in cold conditions on an international highway in Kazakhstan have been successfully evacuated. This was reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan.
Kazakh rescuers spent the night assisting people stranded on snow-covered and icy roads in various regions. One notable incident occurred when a bus traveling from Shymkent to Russia got stuck on the Samara-Shymkent highway in the Aktobe region due to a technical malfunction. The 82 passengers on board, including three children, were at risk of freezing overnight. The driver contacted rescuers for assistance, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Kazakh Emergency Situations Services evacuated the passengers, including the citizens of Uzbekistan, to a warming point in the village of Kuril.
“Foreign citizens expressed their gratitude to the Kazakh rescuers,” the report stated.
This incident comes after earlier warnings for citizens of Uzbekistan traveling through or residing in Kazakhstan about potential difficulties due to a sharp deterioration in weather conditions in the region.
