Woman dies after being hit by train in Karakalpakstan

On January 22, a woman died after being hit by a train in Karakalpakstan. The press service of Uzbekistan Railways reported this.

According to the information, the woman attempted to cross the railway tracks at an unauthorized location between the Hydrouzel and Nukus stations and was struck by a passenger train.

“The victim violated traffic safety rules and failed to ensure her own safety. Relevant services are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident,” the statement said.

Uzbekistan Railways reminded citizens of the importance of observing established rules when crossing railway tracks. No further details about the incident were provided.

It is worth noting that earlier a serious traffic accident occurred at an unguarded railway crossing between the Chartak and Uychi stations in Namangan Region. The driver of a Gentra passenger car grossly violated traffic rules and attempted to cross the tracks in front of an approaching train. There were six people in the vehicle: five women and a small child. As a result of the severe collision, none of the passengers survived.
