A woman who killed her friend by stabbing her 20 times and then set fire to the house to conceal the crime has been sentenced to over 15 years in prison. The Fergana region courts reported the conviction.

The incident occurred on May 21 of this year. The deceased and the defendant were acquainted, and the defendant was aware of her friend's limited finances, as well as her schedule—when she would leave and return home. Armed with a knife and "razbavitel" liquid, the defendant attacked her friend, stabbing her to death. Afterward, she poured the liquid inside the house and set it on fire to cover up the murder. Before leaving the scene, the defendant stole 35 million UZS and gold jewelry the deceased had been saving to buy a house.

Following the crime, the defendant returned home, changed clothes, and disposed of the murder weapon and other evidence in a stream near her house.

The Fergana City Criminal Court sentenced the woman to 15.5 years in prison for violating Articles 97 (murder), 164 (burglary), and 173 (intentional destruction or property damage) of the Criminal Code.
