Couple dies in collision between Cobalt and Damas in Fergana

Two individuals tragically lost their lives in a traffic accident involving a Cobalt and a Damas in the Furqat district of the Fergana region, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The incident occurred on a highway in the district when the driver of the Cobalt, despite dense fog, drove into the opposite lane. As a result, the Damas, approaching from the other direction, failed to see the Cobalt in time, leading to the fatal collision.

The driver of the Damas died at the scene, while her husband, who was a passenger, passed away later at the hospital.

Following the incident, a criminal case was opened against the Cobalt driver under Article 266, Part 3, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code (Violation of traffic safety regulations or vehicle operation).

The court sentenced the driver to three years of imprisonment and revoked his driving rights for the same period. The defendant was taken into custody in the courtroom, and his sentence will be served in a penal colony.

In related news, on October 14, a Nexia collided with a Gentra in the Nishon district of the Kashkadarya region, causing another tragic accident. The Nexia driver succumbed to severe injuries, while passengers were hospitalized with various injuries.
