Lawyers were caught taking $50,000 in bribes in Fergana (video)

Lawyers were caught taking bribes during operations conducted by State Security Service officers in cooperation with the Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office. This was reported by the State Security Service.

In the Fergana case, two lawyers working in law firms conspired and attempted to change the sentence of a convict, who was sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison by a court ruling in 2023 and is currently serving his sentence, to a non-custodial penalty through their acquaintances in the judicial bodies. In return, they demanded $50,000. The lawyers were caught red-handed while receiving the money.

In the Tashkent case, a lawyer from a law firm, who had previously been convicted several times, promised to help a textile manufacturing LLC recover 6 billion soums out of 12 billion soums in damages with the help of his acquaintances in the prosecution and internal affairs bodies. In return, he demanded $100,000. The lawyer was caught red-handed while receiving $50,000 of the requested amount.

Additionally, the lawyer’s colleague, who was involved in the illegal activity and had previously worked in the prosecution bodies, was caught red-handed while receiving $30,000 out of the $50,000.

In the Samarkand case, a lawyer from a law firm, who had previously been convicted, was caught red-handed while receiving $5,000 for helping a citizen from the Oqdarya district annul his marriage through his acquaintances in the court.

“Criminal cases have been initiated against these individuals under relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and investigative actions are underway,” the report says.

It should be noted that earlier, the head of a law bureau in Jizzakh was caught taking $3,000.
