A road patrol service inspector in Fergana has been sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of accepting a 1.2 million UZS bribe. The verdict was confirmed in court documents reviewed by QALAMPIR.UZ.

According to the case files, on October 29, 2024, at 16:00, an officer from Fergana Regional Traffic Safety Department's 2nd Squad, 4th Mobile Unit, identified as Sh.X., stopped a Lacetti vehicle driven by B.A. in Qungirot village, Buvayda district. The car’s front side windows had been illegally tinted without proper authorization. Instead of issuing an official citation, the officer accepted a 1.2 million UZS bribe, which was transferred to his acquaintance Sh.Sh.’s bank card.

On February 24, 2025, the Buvayda District Criminal Court convicted Sh.X. under Article 210 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to two years in prison, along with being banned from holding positions of financial responsibility for the same duration.

On April 9, 2025, the Fergana Regional Court’s Cassation Panel reviewed an appeal from the convicted officer, in which he and his defense team sought a non-custodial sentence. However, the court upheld the initial February 24 ruling, rejecting the appeal and maintaining the original two-year prison sentence.

Background: Earlier in the Syrdarya region, another road patrol officer was sentenced to four years in prison after promising to manipulate case files and ease a forensic examination in favor of a driver involved in a traffic accident in exchange for $400 USD.
