Mother arrested in connection to the child's death

A mother has been arrested following the death of her 4-year-old daughter in Chirchik, Tashkent Region, after a brutal beating. The arrest was confirmed by Bobur Tulaganov, press secretary of the regional Main Department of Internal Affairs.

An investigation is currently underway as part of a criminal case.

On December 23, 2024, Y.M., a girl born in 2020, was admitted to the Bostanlyk District Medical Association in Tashkent Region with multiple injuries. Preliminary findings revealed that the 47-year-old mother, E.Y., severely assaulted her daughter, resulting in serious bodily harm. Medical reports indicate the child suffered a closed head injury, severe concussion, and other critical head injuries.

On December 27, 2024, the Chirchik City Police Department initiated a criminal case against E.Y. under Article 1261, Part 7, Clause “b” (domestic violence) of the Criminal Code. The Children's Ombudsman stated that the evolving circumstances of the case, particularly the child's death, would prompt a re-evaluation of the charges, potentially leading to a more severe legal classification of the crime.
