Chinese University branch to replace former technical school in Chirchik

10089The former technical school building in the city of Chirchik, Tashkent region, is set to be demolished to make way for a branch of a prestigious Chinese higher education institution. This announcement was made by the Chirchik city administration.
The building, located at 2 Zakovat Street, has been abandoned and in a state of neglect for many years. In line with the resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a project to establish a branch of a renowned Chinese university will be carried out on the site of the old technical school.
According to the administration, the Chirchik Innovation Gymnasium Limited Liability Company has been established under the ownership of Soniya Group Limited from the People's Republic of China. The company plans to invest $15 million in the project to build a modern gymnasium, create over 100 new jobs, and provide quality education for the children of 500 families in Chirchik.
Due to the deteriorating condition of the building, the Tashkent regional territorial Construction and Housing and Communal Services Supervision Inspectorate conducted a visual inspection and concluded that the building should be demolished. This decision was formalized in a letter dated January 16, 2025.
Additionally, the former technical school building is not included in the national list of cultural heritage sites, as per the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 846, dated October 4, 2019, which approved the national list of immovable cultural heritage properties.
