10597Earlier, it was reported that in Chirchiq, a 32-year-old resident sustained injuries in a dispute with a shop owner selling alcoholic beverages and subsequently passed away.
On social media, the victim’s mother alleged that her son intervened in an altercation to defend a woman, resulting in him being severely beaten and later dying in the hospital. She expressed dissatisfaction with law enforcement treating the case as a street brawl.
Bobur Tolaganov, Press Secretary of the Tashkent Region Internal Affairs Department, responded to the claims.
The incident reportedly took place on March 5, when a dispute over the purchase and sale of alcohol arose between two individuals, M.K. and D.Kh., leading to M.K. suffering severe injuries. He later died in the hospital.
An investigation has been launched under Article 104, Part 3(d) of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code, which pertains to intentional bodily harm causing death. On March 7, D.Kh. was formally charged, and preventive detention measures were applied.
"Various unverified interpretations of the case have been published by the media and the public. He reminded journalists that the “Law on Protection of Journalism” obligates them to verify information before publication and provide unbiased reporting," Tolaganov highlighted.
Additionally, Tolaganov pointed out Article 239 of the Criminal Code, which prohibits disclosing details of investigations without permission from the investigator, prosecutor, or relevant authorities.
Considering the ongoing investigation, he urged social media users and activists to avoid spreading unsubstantiated or one-sided information about the case.
