As we previously reported, the international chess tournament “Tata Steel-2023” is currently being held in the Netherlands. Today, 19 January, the 5th round of matches in the “Masters” group will begin.

In the 5th round, Uzbek grandmaster Nodirbek Abdusattarov, who is one of the main contenders for the championship, will play against Norway’s Magnus Carlsen, who is considered the world champion.

After the remaining four rounds, Abdusattarov took the 2nd place among the world’s top chess players with 3 points.

It should be recalled that Magnus Carlsen unexpectedly lost the opportunity to Anish Giri, the representative of the hosts, in the 4th round. Giri currently leads the Masters group.
