Prosecutor General’s Office confirms woman stabbed and killed her 7-year-old daughter in Tashkent

Earlier, it was reported that a woman had stabbed and killed her 7-year-old daughter in the Sergeli district of Tashkent. QALAMPIR.UZ contacted Hayot Shamsutdinov, press secretary of the Prosecutor General’s Office, to clarify the circumstances.

According to him, on the day of the incident, a citizen born in 1991, identified as Z.T., who resides in the Sergeli district of Tashkent, began acting unusually and armed herself with a sharp object (a kitchen knife) from the kitchen. She inflicted stab wounds on her daughter, Z.A., born in 2018. As a result of the injuries, the girl died at the scene.

On September 8 of this year, the Sergeli district prosecutor’s office opened a criminal case under part 1 of Article 97 (Intentional homicide) of the Criminal Code. The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 221 (Grounds for detention) of the Criminal Procedure Code.

It is worth noting that a shocking incident also occurred at the Tashkent Zoo involving the same woman and her daughter on January 28, 2022. At around 12:00 noon, for reasons unknown, the young woman threw her daughter into a bear enclosure in front of onlookers. The bear did not harm the girl, and zoo staff managed to lead the animal back into its inner shelter.

The girl, born in 2018, was initially given first aid by a zoo nurse. She was then transported by ambulance at around 13:30 to the Republican Scientific Center for emergency medical care. At that time, a criminal case was opened against the mother under part 2, paragraph “v” of Articles 25 and 97 of the Criminal Code (attempted aggravated intentional homicide).

The Prosecutor’s Office later reported that the woman, who had thrown her daughter into the bear enclosure, had been registered at a psychiatric dispensary since July 2021. Meanwhile, the Tashkent city department for neighborhood and family support revealed that she was teaching at a higher education institution and was in the process of divorcing her husband. In April of the same year, she was found guilty under the article of the Criminal Code covering attempted aggravated homicide and was sent for compulsory treatment at a psychiatric hospital.
