Adiz Boboyev, the acting governor of the Samarkand region, has criticized the shortage of parks in the regional center for children and the elderly. He has ordered the construction of several new parks in the city. The announcement was made during a meeting at the regional government on July 29.
“If we say our children need a place to rest, there is only one park. If four people enter, the fifth can’t get in. There’s no other space. They are sitting between four walls in the ‘Dom’ in 50-degree heat. Children can’t go outside, they have nowhere to go, even in the evenings. And just like that, their holidays are over. Our elderly parents also deserve to go outside — to a park, to walk in the fresh air. But such places don’t exist,” said Boboyev.
He instructed officials to construct a park on the site of the former military hospital in Samarkand, which covers more than 5 hectares. The new park must be completed and opened by September 1.
“A beautiful park will be built on the site of the military hospital, which spans more than 5 hectares. It should be fully operational by September 1,” Boboyev emphasized.
Additionally, the existing “Vatanparvar” park, which occupies 7 hectares, will be preserved and further developed. A new section featuring attractions, water features, and recreational areas for both children and adults will be created there, with construction efforts to be expedited.
Similar parks are also planned on 3 hectares of land behind the Ice Palace and in the Karasuv residential area.
