12181Recent claims circulating on social media that the individual accused of killing a 3-year-old boy was sentenced to life imprisonment are inaccurate, according to Hayat Shamsutdinov, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The incident occurred on July 9 in Tashkent’s Yashnabad district, where a man, born in 1993 and renting an apartment on Yakkatol Street, inflicted fatal injuries on his son from a previous marriage following a dispute with his current partner, with whom he lived outside of legal marriage. The suspect used a sharp object in the assault and then fled the scene, while the child tragically passed away before reaching the hospital. Law enforcement subsequently detained the man as a preventive measure.
The suspect faces charges under Article 97 (Intentional Murder) and other provisions of the Criminal Code, and the case was forwarded to the court on October 23 for a thorough trial.
In response to the incident, Alisher Kadirov, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and leader of the "National Revival" Democratic Party faction, stated that those who commit such brutality against children should not be allowed to live, reflecting the severity with which many view this case.
