Uzbekistan announces final World Cup squad

Uzbekistan’s final squad for the World Cup has been announced. The Uzbekistan Football Association reported the news.

According to the association, the UFA officially submitted its final 26-man squad for the tournament to FIFA yesterday, June 1.

The four players who travelled to the United States as part of Fabio Cannavaro’s initial 30-man squad but did not make the final list have also been revealed. They are Sherzod Temirov, Jasur Jaloliddinov, Ruslanbek Jiyanov and Umarali Rahmonaliyev.

For reference, Uzbekistan played a friendly match against Canada today, June 2. Fabio Cannavaro’s side lost the match 0-2. The team will now face the Netherlands in another friendly match on June 8 this year.

It should be noted that Hojiakbar Alijonov, Behruz Karimov, Umarali Rahmonaliyev and Sherzod Temirov were not included in the matchday squad against Canada.

Earlier, it was reported that Aziz Ganiyev was injured during the friendly match against Canada.
