Uzbekistan and Slovakia have officially elevated their bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership. This was announced on June 9 by the press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Asadov, during a media briefing.

As reported earlier, the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fico, arrived in Uzbekistan on the evening of June 8. He was welcomed at Tashkent International Airport by Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and other high-ranking officials.

On June 9, Fico laid flowers at the Independence Monument in the “New Uzbekistan” park, where members of the Slovak delegation were also briefed on the architectural features and symbolism of the complex. He was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojaev.

Later in the day, an official welcoming ceremony was held for Fico at the Kuksaroy residence, followed by high-level talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The two leaders discussed key issues related to the development of practical cooperation across multiple sectors. President Mirziyoyev noted that the visit marks a new chapter in the deepening of Uzbek-Slovak relations.

Prime Minister Fico is also scheduled to participate in the 4th Tashkent International Investment Forum.

It is worth noting that Uzbekistan has recently strengthened its international partnerships: on March 12, a strategic partnership was established with France during President Mirziyoyev’s visit to Paris, and on May 20, an enhanced strategic partnership was formalized with Hungary following talks with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Budapest.
