Abat Fayzullaev presents credentials as Uzbekistan's first ambassador to Malta

Abat Fayzullaev has been appointed as Uzbekistan's first ambassador to Malta (with a residence in Rome). He presented his credentials to Malta's President Miriam Spiteri Debono. This information was reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.

During a brief conversation following the ceremonial event, Malta's leader emphasized that bilateral relations have intensified as a result of the open and pragmatic foreign policy pursued by the President of Uzbekistan. Despite the geographical distance between the two countries, mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation is contributing to the development of bilateral relations.

For context, Abat Fayzullaev served as Uzbekistan's ambassador to Austria from 2020 to 2023 and concurrently headed the diplomatic mission in Hungary. He was also Uzbekistan's permanent representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and other international organizations in Vienna.

The 42-year-old diplomat graduated from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and the Tashkent State University of Economics. He has held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Uzbek Embassy in the USA, and has served as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Secretariat.

Since October 2023, Abat Fayzullayev has been serving as Uzbekistan's ambassador to Italy and permanent representative to international organizations in Rome (FAO, IFAD, WFP). Additionally, since December 2024, he has been serving as Uzbekistan's ambassador to Cyprus.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan appointed its first ambassador to Iceland.
