According to the Uzbek Consulate in Istanbul, the 13-year-old who allegedly attacked his sister's 26-year-old partner in Turkey is not a citizen of Uzbekistan.

According to investigations by the consulate’s diplomats, the incident actually occurred on August 22 in Aksaray province, 521 km from Istanbul.

"None of the individuals involved in the incident is a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan; they hold the citizenship of another country. The accused, S.T., was born in 2012, while the victim, M.O., was born in 2000", the statement said.

The Consulate noted that when crimes committed by foreign nationals are reported in some media outlets as involving Uzbek citizens, it negatively affects the image of Uzbekistan’s citizens.

"Citizens are advised to strictly adhere to local laws and, in emergencies, contact the Consulate", said in a statement.

It is worth noting that on August 17 this year, in the Umraniye district of Istanbul, a city with a large Uzbek community, 33-year-old Nigina Sattorova, originally from Uzbekistan’s Samarkand region, was reportedly stabbed in the neck by her husband, Umid Sattorov. She had been temporarily working in Istanbul.
