Man in Surkhandarya tortures wife and 5-month-old baby, holding them in cowshed for months (video)

Reports have circulated on social media that in the Uzun district of Surkhandarya region, a man subjected his wife and their newborn child to abuse and violence, keeping them confined in a cowshed for five months. The regional department of Internal Affairs has issued a statement regarding the incident.

According to the information, the police received a report on August 26 this year that an unidentified woman was being forcibly held in unsanitary conditions in a cowshed by the owners of a household in one of the neighborhoods of the Uzun district. Based on this, a community prevention inspector immediately arrived at the scene and, despite resistance from the household members, broke down the door of the cowshed. As a result, it was discovered that the homeowner, Sh.A., born in 1981, had been keeping his wife, H.G., born in 1997, and their 5-month-old son in harsh conditions inside the cowshed. The victims were immediately taken to a medical facility.

The investigation revealed that the homeowner, Sh.A., in collusion with his mother and close relatives living in the same household, exploited his wife H.G.’s mental condition, her speech impairment, and difficulty in fully expressing her thoughts, and subjected her to abuse and violence for several months. He forcibly kept her hidden in the household cowshed throughout this period.

Currently, H.G. has been admitted to the surgical department of the Uzun District Medical Association, while her infant son has been placed in the maternity ward for treatment. Officials from the regional department of Social Protection are closely monitoring their health condition.

According to reports, a criminal case has been initiated by the Investigation team of the Uzun district police department under Article 126-1 (Domestic violence), part 7, clauses “a” and “e” of the Criminal Code. The suspect, Sh.A., has been taken into custody in accordance with procedural law. Other household members involved in the case have also been summoned for questioning, and one individual has been declared wanted. All necessary forensic examinations have been ordered, and investigative and procedural actions are ongoing.

It is worth noting that earlier, reports emerged from the Sharof Rashidov district of Jizzakh region that a father had insulted and brutally beaten his children. Following the incident, the Jizzakh regional department of Internal Affairs initiated a criminal case under Article 110 (Torture), part 2, clause “a” of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
