Young man was arrested in Samarkand for distributing materials in the spirit of religious fanaticism

A young man in the Samarkand region has been arrested for creating a Telegram group to distribute extremist and fanatical materials, according to Aziz Obidov, the press secretary of the Supreme Court.
The 19-year-old, a resident of Nurabad district in Samarkand, used the Telegram platform to open groups named "Yurak (Heart)," "Skripka (Violin)," and "Ayiq (Bear)." He shared materials promoting religious extremism and fanaticism within these groups.
During the investigation, the young man admitted that he had been running the groups for over a year and a half. He claimed not to understand the content of the materials he shared, which included approximately 20-25 songs and videos.
The Nurabad District Court on Criminal Cases found the accused guilty under Article 244-1, Part 3, Paragraph (g) of the Criminal Code, which pertains to the preparation, storage, distribution, or display of materials threatening public safety and order. He was sentenced to three years in prison.
Earlier, a 26-year-old man in Termez, Surkhandarya region, was penalized for conducting illegal religious education. Since July 2, he had created a Telegram group called "Qur'an va Khatim," where he provided religious lessons to 37 individuals for 300,000 sums.
The Termez City Administrative Court sentenced him to 15 days of administrative detention under Article 241 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, which addresses violations related to the unauthorized teaching of religious doctrines.
