Saidov meets Rubio and his deputy

On February 5, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his Deputy Secretary Christopher Landau on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting on Critical Minerals in Washington. Saidov announced this on his Telegram channel.
“We were pleased to hold a broad and substantive dialogue with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. In addition to bilateral issues, the discussions also covered the most pressing global challenges,” the Uzbek foreign minister said.
According to him, the meeting emphasized that the recently established Peace Council is increasingly becoming an effective platform for promoting stability and prosperity in conflict-affected regions, offering hope to millions of people for a safer and more dignified future.
The sides also reaffirmed their shared commitment to continued cooperation in addressing common challenges, strengthening international security, and advancing sustainable development.
In addition, Saidov held a productive meeting with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau. The discussions focused primarily on ensuring the timely and effective implementation of all agreements reached at the highest level, as well as expanding new promising projects.
“We also exchanged views on the bilateral agenda for 2026 and reaffirmed our shared commitment to further strengthening the enhanced strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States,” Saidov said.
Earlier, it was reported that, on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting on Critical Minerals, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the United States on ensuring supply chain resilience in the extraction and processing of critical minerals and rare earth elements.
