Last night, on September 29, Spain’s Real Madrid team arrived in Almaty, Kazakhstan, to play against Kairat in the second round of the UEFA Champions League. The Spanish club was warmly welcomed by local football fans and the public, the administration of Almaty International Airport reported.
’’At Almaty International Airport, UEFA Champions League participants were given a ceremonial welcome. Today, as part of Europe’s most prestigious club tournament, Real Madrid players arrived in Kazakhstan’s southern capital. The guests were greeted with national hospitality and warmth. In particular, the performance of the Champions League anthem on traditional Kazakh instruments became an unforgettable moment for the players, blending the passion for sport with the country’s rich cultural heritage,’’ the statement from Almaty International Airport reads.
The tickets for the Kairat–Real Madrid match were sold at prices ranging from 30,000 tenge (approximately 690,000 soums) to 250,000 tenge (about 5.73 million soums). The match between Kairat and Real Madrid will take place tomorrow, September 30, kicking off at 21:45 local time at the Central Stadium in Almaty.
It is worth noting that earlier, Kairat defeated Scotland’s Celtic in the decisive round of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, securing a spot in the group stage of the tournament for the first time in its history.
