Court sentences driver to 3 days for sexual harassment of female passenger

A 34-year-old Damas driver in the Namangan region has been punished for sexually assaulting a female passenger. QALAMPIR.UZ has reviewed the official court documents related to the case.

The incident occurred on July 8 at approximately 00:30, when the driver physically assaulted the passenger by grabbing her hips and breasts while she was in his vehicle.

During court proceedings, the defendant appealed for leniency, citing his sincere remorse, his formal apology to the victim, and the fact that the victim had not filed a formal claim against him.

The case was heard by the Namangan City Court for Criminal Cases.

Based on the court’s ruling, the driver was sentenced to three days of administrative detention under Part 1 of Article 41-1 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, which deals with sexual harassment.

It is worth recalling that in a similar case in Tashkent, a young man was previously sentenced to five days of administrative detention for groping a girl below the waist and sexually harassing her.
