A case of illegal use of electricity amounting to 1.9 billion soums has been uncovered in the Namangan region. This was reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the information, a pre-investigation inspection was carried out in the Davlatabad district. During the inspection, officials of "N.L." LLC were found to have tampered with the electricity meter in a production building located in the "Yuqori Rovuston" neighborhood. They deliberately altered the meter’s seal and the connection scheme. As a result, electricity worth 1.9 billion soums was illegally consumed.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 169 of the Criminal Code (theft), and investigative measures are ongoing.

It is worth noting that earlier, in Andijan city of the Andijan region, another LLC was exposed for illegally consuming electricity worth 4.6 billion soums.
