Uzbek military expands drone exercises and digital integration

On February 3, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to discuss measures aimed at strengthening Uzbekistan’s defense capabilities. The Presidential Press Service reported the details of the discussion.

During the meeting, Minister of Defense Shukhrat Kholmukhammedov presented a report on the progress of defense sector reforms, including the modernization of Uzbekistan’s defense-industrial complex and the ongoing efforts to equip the national army with advanced military technology and weaponry.

A key focus of the discussion was leveraging private sector capabilities in defense production and enhancing the training of engineering and technical personnel.

The President emphasized the importance of high-quality military education, ensuring that servicemen are proficient in using the latest defense technologies and weapon systems.

After the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev issued directives to further develop Uzbekistan’s defense industry and accelerate the modernization of its armed forces.

It should be noted that earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan would acquire ANKA drones from the Turkish defense company TUSAS, reflecting the country’s commitment to enhancing its military capabilities.
