Mirziyoyev hosts Berdimuhamedov at Samarkand’s cultural landmark

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov jointly participated in cultural events organized on the territory of the "Immortal City" historical and ethnographic park at the "Silk Road Samarkand" international tourism center. This was reported by the Presidential press service.

"During the visit, Berdimuhamedov explored exhibitions showcasing Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage, including craftsmanship and applied arts demonstrations. The program also featured performances by dance ensembles, celebrating the region’s traditions," the report states.

Earlier, on April 21, Berdimuhamedov visited Kazakhstan, where he was welcomed at Turkistan Airport by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Together, they toured the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, a landmark of spiritual and cultural significance for the Turkic world.

On April 22, Berdimuhamedov held an informal meeting with Tokayev, focusing on gas sector cooperation, including Kazakhstan’s involvement in the Galkynysh gas field development project alongside foreign partners.

Following his visit to Kazakhstan, Berdimuhamedov traveled to Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, where he was greeted by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. The two leaders engaged in bilateral talks and attended traditional Kyrgyz equestrian games, such as “Jorgo Salish” and “Kok Boru”, at an equestrian center in Baktuu-Dolonotu village. The cultural program concluded with Japarov accompanying Berdimuhamedov to Issyk-Kul International Airport.

Upon arriving in Samarkand, Berdimuhamedov was greeted at the international airport by President Mirziyoyev. As part of the city’s events, the two leaders visited the Hazrati Xizr Complex, where they paid tribute to Uzbekistan’s First President, Islam Karimov, by laying flowers at his grave and reciting Qur’an verses.
