In the Indian city of Hyderabad, police conducted a raid against a prostitution network operating out of a hotel. During the operation, three women were rescued, including a citizen of Uzbekistan, The Times of India reported.
Law enforcement authorities arrested the network’s organizer, a 36-year-old man named Sharif, along with seven clients and the hotel administrator. According to the investigation, Sharif managed a beauty salon called Style Maker, where he lured unemployed women by promising them lucrative jobs before forcing them into prostitution.
The search was conducted in hotel rooms numbered 111 and 112, where police seized 5,950 rupees (approximately 820,000 Uzbek soums) in cash and 13 mobile phones.
Police representatives stated that the organizer deceived the women under the pretext of offering employment and later exploited them.
“The operation team intervened in time and prevented further acts of abuse,” the report said.
Those arrested, along with the seized evidence, were taken to the police station for further investigation. Authorities also plan to hold the hotel management accountable for turning a blind eye to the illegal activities.
Earlier, two young women were stopped at Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov while allegedly being trafficked to India for prostitution.
