Raids targeting the illegal cutting of saxaul plants are being conducted throughout the Bukhara region. Over the past two months, authorities have identified 25 violations. This was reported by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.

According to the report, the Bukhara Regional Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change has been carrying out raids to prevent the illegal felling of saxaul plants. During these raids, conducted in the desert areas of the region between September and October, 25 violations were detected. Offenders were charged under Article 79 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which governs environmental violations.

The estimated environmental damage from these cases totaled 29 million 702 thousand 400 soums, and fines amounted to 222 million 900 thousand soums. The total sum to be paid by the offenders in damages and penalties reached 252 million 602 thousand 400 soums.

"Similar raids are being carried out across the country to curb the illegal cutting of saxaul, with strict legal consequences for violators," the report states.

Earlier, a criminal case was initiated following the illegal felling of over 2,500 rare trees listed in the Red Book in the "Amonkoton" National Nature Park in the Samarkand region.
