Scooters and mopeds have been banned in the historic center of Bukhara, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.

The ban applies to the historic center of Bukhara, renowned for its ancient architectural monuments and unique ambiance. The use of scooters, electric scooters, bicycles, and other personal mobility devices is now entirely prohibited in this area.

The primary reason for the restriction is to enhance pedestrian safety and preserve the city's historical heritage. Residents and tourists have long expressed dissatisfaction with scooter and electric scooter users, as these devices are often left haphazardly, cluttering the narrow streets of the old city. Additionally, riders frequently invade pedestrian walkways, creating hazardous conditions that threaten the safety of tourists and elderly residents.

The ban also aims to protect the city's historical monuments. The continuous movement and indiscriminate parking of vehicles pose a risk to the structural integrity of ancient buildings, particularly their foundations.

To enforce the new rules, road signs prohibiting vehicle movement have been installed on various streets and near significant landmarks in Bukhara, including the roads leading to the renowned Labi Khovuz complex. The restriction extends to all motorized vehicles, including mopeds and scooters. Violators will face administrative penalties.
