A street in New Tashkent will be called "Saint Petersburg," as announced by the press service of the governor of St. Petersburg on May 27.

During a meeting between officials of both countries on May 26-27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed the decision to name a street in New Tashkent after Saint Petersburg, Russia's cultural capital.

“Great! It will be the most beautiful,” replied Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Alexander Beglov, the governor of St. Petersburg, also welcomed this decision, calling it a great honor and a symbol of friendly relations.

"Cooperation with Uzbekistan has been and will remain a priority for St. Petersburg in international relations," said Beglov.

Previously, it was agreed to increase trade between Uzbekistan and Russia to 30 billion dollars.
