Today, December 28, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the site of ongoing construction and development projects in New Tashkent, according to the presidential press service.

The foundation of New Tashkent was laid on March 18, 2023. During the ceremony, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the vision of transforming the area into a “green city,” prioritizing clean air and water, renewable energy, and extensive greenery. A key component of this initiative is the “Green Belt of Tashkent” project, which will feature a Central Park spanning 420 hectares with 200,000 trees planted.

"To support this goal, preparatory work is already underway. A 50-hectare nursery has been established, which the President personally inspected. He reviewed the landscape design, irrigation systems, and tree maintenance plans," the report states.

According to the report, 27,000 ornamental trees have been planted for future relocation, with supporting infrastructure including greenhouses, a boiler house, and irrigation systems already constructed.

Temporary administrative facilities are also being developed to accommodate the operations of ministries and government agencies in New Tashkent.

President Mirziyoyev visited these structures, which include four lightweight buildings and auxiliary facilities. Built using local materials, the offices adopt an “open space” design, accommodating up to 250 employees each.

This initiative is expected to gradually shift government operations to New Tashkent, easing congestion in the capital.

Additionally, the Russian Trade Representative Office in Uzbekistan recently announced plans to construct the St. Petersburg Quarter in New Tashkent, reinforcing international collaboration in the district’s development.
