The punishment for the crime of violence against minors will be aggravated

In the legislation of Uzbekistan, the punishment measures for crimes of defamation, sexual assault (Articles 118, 119), rape (Article 121), and the rape of a minor under the age of 16 years (Article 128) as well as any other crimes involving obscene or depraved acts against non-citizens (Article 129) are being aggravated.  A spokesperson at the Ministry of Justice, Sevara Orinbayeva, gave information about this.

He noted that the working group of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Ministry of Justice "In connection with the further improvement of a system of reliable protection of the rights, freedoms and legal interests of women and children, amendments and additions to some legal documents of the Republic of Uzbekistan On draft law" was developed.

"The bill also provides for the preparation of pornographic material in which a minor is depicted by touching or using violence against a victim under the age of eighteen, sexually satisfying unnaturally, or forcing him or her to engage in sexual intercourse or prostitution."  In addition to punishment, other measures of responsibility and influence have been strengthened against individuals, in particular, against:

- non-application of humanitarian acts in the form of early conditional release from punishment or replacement of punishment with a lighter one;

- it is envisaged that there will be no relief in the imposition of punishment for unfinished crimes," said Orinboyeva.

He added that, it was proposed to include a new norm in the law "On Guarantees of Children's Rights"  According to it, persons convicted of the above crimes are prohibited from working in educational institutions and healthcare institutions serving minors.

"At the same time, proposals received from the public on the draft law are being summarized. The draft document will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers in the prescribed manner," Sevara Orinboyeva said.
