On November 14, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed the law "On the Protection of Children from All Forms of Violence," according to a report from the Children's Ombudsman.

The law consists of five chapters and 51 articles, defining violence against children. It not only addresses physical, sexual, and mental abuse but also recognizes new forms of violence, such as neglect, exploitation, and bullying.

The law stipulates that the state must implement appropriate legal, administrative, social, economic, and other measures to protect children from violence, rehabilitate victims, and restore their rights. Additionally, it outlines the necessary steps for social adaptation.

Special powers, cooperation mechanisms, and responsibilities for authorities regarding child protection are also included in the law.

According to the report, "It is important that the law not only protects children who have suffered from violence but also establishes a system for identifying children at risk and eliminating the risks of violence against them."

This law will come into force six months after its official announcement.

It is also important to note that law No. 978, signed by the President on October 21, established penalties for family violence committed against children by close relatives. This law amended Article 59-2 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility and Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code, adding provisions for holding individuals accountable for family (domestic) violence against children.
